Handmade jewellery seems to be quite popular these days because it’s a relatively cheap way of buying unique, very individual jewellery. It’s a great business for a teen/student as you can make as little or as much as you like without interrupting your studies.
It can be sold just about everywhere too, online (ebay is a good place to start), on the high street in boutique shops and on a market stall. It’s also likely to be easy to start selling to friends, family and fellow students.
Unfortunately it’s unlikely to lead you to making your fortune and you’ll need some creative skills and an eye for design.
To get started you’ll need to buy some basic tools and some wire, chain, beads and so on. Once again ebay is likely to be a good place to source your raw materials.
To get started have a browse around the net for ideas and inspiration for designs. You can then have a look at the Jewellery Making blog which has a good selection of how to articles to get you started.
This post is last in my teen business week series.
