It’s the second annual National Work From Home Day today. Apparently millions of workers around the UK will be experiencing the benefits of working from their home. Apparently:
British workers spend by far the longest time traveling in Europe – as much as 47 working days per year (Samsung research 2004).
Working from home is a great idea, you get to avoid the over-crowded and frankly terrible public transport in this country or the frustration of sitting in traffic jams. On top of that you save a few hours of the day and are able to start work without having got hot, bothered and stressed during the commute.
If even a small proportion of the work force worked from home occasionally it would have a noticeable effect on the country, reductions in traffic volumes and passenger numbers on public transport will result in less congestion and overcrowding, making travel a more bearable chore for people who have no choice. Less traffic will also means less pollution and CO2 emissions.
So tell the boss you want to work from home, if he says no, then perhaps it’s time to consider starting a home business!
