It seems that just about everyone my wife and I know is getting married this year and the majority of them are after we’ll become parents (our first baby is due in the next few weeks). Which means we’ll be faced with the option of leaving the baby with a babysitter or (our preferred choice) taking the baby with us. However not everyone wants babies crying at their wedding or kids running around playing during the speeches, indeed some of the weddings are strictly no kids, which sadly means we probably won’t be going as given the distance and time involved we’ll not be able to leave the baby with family.
It occurred to me there must be a better solution that allows kids to attend but removes the bothersome aspects of having the kids around. Between them wedding venues and/or local child care providers could team up and offer wedding crèches. Parents can book/accept a place when they accept the invite to the wedding and then pay a fee to have their kids looked after during the day, knowing that the kids are never far away.
The crèche could charge considerably more than a normal crèche would per child because it solves a very particular need. The fee should be adequate to allow the venue to take a cut and the service provider to make a reasonable profit.
