That’s the message I got from the envelope of a recent letter I had from the RAC. Why? Because the envelope was clearly branded RAC Loans.
Don’t get me wrong I’m a great believer in building your brand and in normal circumstances I’d suggest putting your logo on everything. In this case however branding the envelope just means I can tell immediately that it’s junk mail and it went straight into the bin unopened. I use the RAC to fix my car if it’s broken, not to borrow money.
Just think of all the effort you went to planning a good offer, getting a well written sales letter, building (or buying) a mailing list then packing and posting, let alone the expense, all of which is a waste if the letter goes into the bin unopened.
So ask yourself, are you branding your direct marketing as junk mail?
