As soon-to-be parents we keep being asked two questions by friends and family:

1. Is it here yet?
2. What can we buy it as a gift? What’s so and so getting, so I don’t get the same?

Well no, it’s not here yet and I’ve no idea what to suggest as a gift, as I don’t know if/what other people are getting. The whole idea of getting gifts when the baby was born hadn’t even crossed my mind until they asked.

So here’s an idea for businesses that sell baby gear, offer a baby gift list service, rather like those wedding gift lists. Although come to think of it most of our wedding guests ignored the list and phoned our parents to ask “What can we buy as a gift?”
