Episode 4 of Peter Jones’ Tycoon actually seemed to be one of the better episodes. Perhaps it was the rush of sales they were all achieving. Though I do wonder if they’d have been able to make those sales without the TV cameras and associated publicity to help them.

A lot of the editing seems rather random though, for example we’re told that Justin Chieffo’s wife is doing a lot of the work while Chieffo is faffing. We’re told that Jones has noticed but then there doesn’t seem to be any follow up? So what’s the deal, does Jones approve, disapprove, is it against the rules, what? Personally if his wife is onboard, supportive and prepared to help then I say good for her, get her involved and make the most of her support.

Lauren Pope seemed to be coping well again, albeit with a misspelling on her packaging – have this lot never heard of proofreading? Perhaps it’s just the way Tycoon is produced but why isn’t she using her name more to push the products?

I still don’t get the helicopter business, ok they look like a fun toy (even for us big kids) but what’s unique about them? Where does he go with the business when they become old news?

Sod Gardening had low sales and as a result nearly got axed, however Jones the merciful spared them so they too are in the final. Good job really as in my opinion it’s the only business with some longevity and potential to build a valuable brand if they get their pricing down – £40 for something to get mucky in the garden is just too much.

So who do you think will win? Personally I think Sod Gardening has the most long term potential but I want Pope to win because all the way through she’s just got on with the job and seems to have made the most of the opportunity.
