If you want to start a business but don’t have the skills to do it all by yourself or you just love the startup experience then a Startup Weekend might be of interest. The concept behind Startup Weekend is simple:
Have you ever wondered what a group of highly talented and motivated people could accomplish in a weekend? Could they start a company from concept to completion?
StartupWeekend answers that question and more. A unique three-day experience, StartupWeekend brings the best and brightest people together in a local office space to select the concept, break into teams, and develop the product, marketing and revenue model.
Past YoursOccurring in cities across the world, StartupWeekend is the new way to allow your local entrepreneurial community to come together and incubate a company from concept to completion in just three days.
It’s primarily aimed at Internet based startups, but the idea could easily be extended to cover a wider range of business opportunities.
If anyone wants to run one in Bath I’ll come along and I’ll be happy to fill a ticket as Cook, Developer–Architect or Developer–Backend.

This blog is about business opportunities and ideas that I spot, think of or hear about and think are useful and interesting. It is intended to provide ideas and inspriation for you to help you find the right business idea for you to then grow it into a successful business.

We’ll be in London in November/December 2007, which is only a train ride away… If you’d like to help organize a weekend for Bath, please get in touch. Otherwise, you’re welcome to join us in London Nov. 30-Dec. 2 for that weekend, which promises to be amazing.
I’ve love to, but unfortunately I’m already busy that weekend.
I’ll have a think about organising a Bath one for the new year though…
Interesting. I have done this kind of work sessions in B-School (yes, I have an MBA), and in some business training seminars, etc. I agree after a few days, we got a lot of good ideas and came out with a sort of a plan. The issue has been what happens to them afterwards. I find people like myself who is seriously thinking to pursue one is very rare. Most cases, all go back to their normal lives.
Do you see the similar issue with this Startup Weekend?
Good question Asako. I can’t speak for startup weekends but my experience is similar to yours, lots of people talk about it, but few actually do it.
sounds like an interesting concept. Would love to take part in one if anybody in Scotland is inclined?
