Every new business opportunity starts out exciting and fun. Then it gets harder and less fun, until eventually it hits a low point – really hard and definitely not fun. At this point you might be in what Seth Godin calls a Dip, which will get better if you keep pushing, or a Cul-de-Sac, which will never get better no matter how hard you try. The hard part is knowing the difference and acting on it.
Godin, believes it is the ability to give up on lifes cul-de-sacs/dead-ends while staying motivated in lifes dips that sets successful entrepreneurs apart. Winners quit fast, quit often and quit without guilt – until they commit to beating the right Dip for the right reasons.
Godin is a marketing guru and best-selling author. He has an MBA in marketing from Stanford Business School. He founded one of the first online marketing companies, Yoyodyne, which was sold to Yahoo! in 1998. As a part of the sale to Yahoo!, Godin became their Vice-President of Permission Marketing. He has also been a columnist for Fast Company.
“The Dip” is a short, entertaining and thought provoking book that will forever alter the way you think about success. If you consider yourself to be an entrepreneur then you should read this book.

This blog is about business opportunities and ideas that I spot, think of or hear about and think are useful and interesting. It is intended to provide ideas and inspriation for you to help you find the right business idea for you to then grow it into a successful business.

Not only is Godin a great read, he is great example of how to chunk down information for the digital age. He is the master at marketing essays. You just have to admire and learn from, how cleverly he packages and sells his thoughts.
Absolutely and I hope that through my writings on this blog I learn to be as clear, concise and inspiring.
Seth Godin does write thought-provoking books tht are usually worth a good luck although I find that the ideas can be extended too far.
