Browsing the BBC’s news this morning I came across this article about the MacBook Air, Apple’s new ultra-thin laptop (sorry I think I’ll stick to my Asus EEE PC at 20% of the price), hidden away at the end of the article however was the news that:
Apple announced it had sold four million iPhones in the first 200 days on sale
Not bad, if they can maintain that rate of 20,000 per day they’ll sell a further 7 million by the end of 2008 and have sold a little over 11 million in total and claimed 1% of the mobile phone market.
I wonder if the analyst from Universal McCann who said that Apple would struggle to sell 10 million iPhones is feeling a little silly?
If you’re responsible for launching consumer products I hope you’re looking carefully at what Apple does, you might just learn something valuable.

It said in one paper that they’d banned any sales figures from being released with the theory being that they’re not doing as well as expected.
