Buy A McDonald’s Franchise

on April 28th, 2007

mcdonaldsFranchising can be a great way to start out in business and where better to start than one of the most successful franchises ever, McDonald’s. After all one of the key benefits to buying a franchise is gaining a well know brand and that’s certainly something McDonald’s have!

McDonald’s is one of the few brands that command instant recognition in virtually every country of the world. Starting with one restaurant in the US in 1955, today there are more than 26,500 McDonald’s restaurants in over 119 countries, serving around 39 million people every day – making McDonald’s by far the largest food service company in the world.

If you fancy running a McDonald’s franchise you’ll need to visit their franchise page (UK, USA) This is what they have to say about potential UK franchisees:

We look for individuals with a demonstrated ability to lead and manage people, good common business sense, and a track record of success in whatever they are doing. A restaurant background is not necessary, nor is a large amount of capital – although you will be asked to make a personal investment in the business.

Their UK franchise manual currently suggests you can expect a return on investment of around 20% per year with average profit margins in the range of 6-8% which is a profit of roughly £90,000 per restaurant per year (obviously not guaranteed and depending on the location etc). So not a particularly exciting rate of return but a good relatively safe investment if franchising takes your fancy.
