A reader asks:
Can you suggest some easy business ideas?
I get asked this question (or variations of it) quite a lot. The good news is yes I can think if lots of easy business ideas, just check out the business ideas and business opportunities sections of this website and you’ll find a good number all of which are relatively easy to start-up. However whilst many business ideas are easy to get going they still require them to work hard over a period of months or more likely years if you want to succeed.
That said the person asking me probably doesn’t really want an easy business idea. What they’re really asking for is an easy way to make money. Well unfortunately as the banks have proved with the current financial crisis, easy ways to make money tend not to last and often have a sting in the tail.
So instead of looking for an easy business idea, look for one that you’re passionate about and are prepared to work hard on – otherwise you’ll continually be swapping from one easy business idea to the next struggling to do well out of any of them.

This blog is about business opportunities and ideas that I spot, think of or hear about and think are useful and interesting. It is intended to provide ideas and inspriation for you to help you find the right business idea for you to then grow it into a successful business.

How about a round up of some ideas as being passionate about something may not equate to a good business idea?
Find one that will make you a great income. You will need to earn enough to cover the cost of buying into the business, but you will want to make much, much more than that.
Well said John, theres many cases of people going into a certain business then end up giving up easy at the sign of a loss. I blame it on lack of intrest, sure money plays a crucial part to any business, but motivation, intrest and enjoyment in my eyes is the key to a succesfull business.
excuses- I’m bored? I have another idea? I think this business has too much competition?
All of these excuses are just another way to say you have given up in a different way. If you would have got into a business that you enjoyed and fount extremly intresting in the first place I do not think anyone would given up soo easy.
In order for any one to enjoy thier line of work there has to be a strong intrest, if there isnt in my opinion its just a matter of time till it breaks them down.
You must have a passion for business, not only for the business you start, but also for business in general.
It’s not just about the money, it’s about wanting too, and enjoying being your own boss. It’s about embracing the challenge, and learning to cope with the setbacks as well as the success.
All new businesses are hard work in some shape or form, if they where not, everyone would want to be in business.
If you keep the goal in mind at all times, and push through all the setbacks, anyone can be successful… the hard work is just part of it.
