As part of my new fitness drive I’ve been finding, identifying and reading the best websites on strength/weight training. Whilst doing so, on a couple of forums I came across several threads about doing 100 pushups (or press ups as many of us in the UK would call them). Each thread was either asking if people can do 100 pushups or inviting people to take part in a challenge to do the hundred pushups and naturally as many of the forums are filled with red blooded males there was a high uptake.
Invariably the original post includes a link to the one hundred pushups website which contains a training program aimed at getting anyone, no matter how fit (or unfit) able to do 100 pushups within 6 weeks. The one hundred pushups website is a great example of a simple idea, turned in to an Internet business and marketed virally, indeed it’s a prefect Internet business idea to be viral as it’s a goal that will inspire many, it’s a simple catchy concept that’s easily explained and the website makes it easy to share the idea with others by offering a logo that those doing the challenge can use and one for those who have completed it to use. On top of all that it nicely uses CafePress to offer branded gear again for those taking and having completed the challenge. The site’s revenue comes from selling the gear, advertising on the site itself and affiliate marketing.
If you’re looking for a simple Internet business idea that you can build from home then take a good look at one hundred pushups website for some inspiration, you never know you might even end up getting fitter and doing 100 pushups yourself too!

This blog is about business opportunities and ideas that I spot, think of or hear about and think are useful and interesting. It is intended to provide ideas and inspriation for you to help you find the right business idea for you to then grow it into a successful business.

I’m not sure I understand how this business makes money. Is it just a case of making money from the web site using the usual methods – adsense, affiliate links and selling merchandise – and then using postings on forums to get traffic to the site?
Probably does really well in the first few weeks of the year and then is dead until next Jan.
Mark,
Yes as I noted in the post: “The site’s revenue comes from selling the gear, advertising on the site itself and affiliate marketing.”
Phil,
That’s certainly true for a large part of the “fitness” industry, but I think this will appeal more to those who manage to stay committed beyond the first few weeks of the year.
Would be interesting to pose some questions to the owner – I might have to do that as a follow-up post.
Theres quiet abit of people doing simular methods some call it the spartan work out… consisting of 300 reps of various different work outs others have the 6 pack challange. Theres another were u take a before and after picture then judging from the pics the winner gets free lifetime membership….
The only way to find out if this will work is by going all the way. just like new year’s resolutions, they don’t last for long. Lol!

That’s a very inspirational website! Maybe gear sales might drop after a few months but I don’t think the website goes out of business after that. There are always new people who are ready for a challenge.
