My name is Thor Holt, I am a Personal Trainer and Life Coach based in Scotland but with clients in various corners of the UK. With the inspiration of Business Opportunities and Ideas I have created an eBook business to inspire those with a love for fitness and exercise to make cash from their passion.

With the recent negative media coverage of the credit crisis, and with recession looming,I?ve even had to advise my Mother-in-Law to stop reading the papers and watching the news because it was actually leading her to feel really depressed! – although she has a government job as a teacher and is therefore most unlikely to be personally effected!

I just opened my lap top after one of these, “…we are all doomed” conversations and put“business opportunities in recession time” into the Google… what came up was fantastic…it was John?s Business Opportunities and Ideas site. Truly a breath of fresh positive air!

What a treat! Loads of useable and well researched business ideas and discussion. I loved the site and visited it regularly for a few weeks just checking our various bits and pieces. Then I stumbled upon the “How to start an Ebook business”, a free five page eBook written by John. I downloaded it and read it like five times over the course of a couple more weeks. The idea was kind of germinating I guess, as like many people I?ve always had a bit of a hankering to write a book of some kind… in the resources section of this free ebook was a link to Jo Vitali and Jim Edward?s “How to write and publish your own eBook in as little as 7 days”which I looked up, liked the look of and bought as a digital download for $29.

It?s a great easy read with loads of useable technical stuff even for a computer goat like me.

I then set up a time for writing 04:30 to 06:00 and just went for it, the key being just to write, once you have set out the purpose statement for the book. My stated purpose was to “Create a 40 page eBook to show gym lovers and fitness enthusiasts how to easily transform their passion into a £30-£80 per hour full or part time business”.

Within ten days I had 40 pages, and went in search of free editing and copy reading… as the 7 Day eBook suggest, you give the book to six peers to read, as you will probably have written as I did about something you know and are passionate about. I gave it to two Personal Trainers and three fitness and exercise participants as they are my potential client group.

You should identify and be sure you have a potential client group before you start writing!Don?t write the book you want to write, write the book they want to read!!!! Is a strong message all budding authors would do well to remember.

With the feedback from these people I also received some testimonials – which I can now use in my marketing efforts – plus some great ideas and input… such as“Ditch the smiley faces Thor, we the readers will decide what?s funny!”That was good advice

Then it was back to writing, taking on board some of the points brought up by my proofreaders and ignoring others.

Once I had this knocked out with more of my 04:15 starts – I start coaching and training at 06:30 0r 07:00 most days so this was my golden 90 Minutes of writing time and proved surprisingly easy due to the enthusiasm I started to develop as the pages built up! If readers are thinking ?easy for you mate?, these early starts were a challenge as I have a young baby but luckily for me a supportive Wife.

With a second draft written I felt confident enough to go and purchase web hosting(through Heart Internet) and my domain name PtCash.co.uk – after having used a Trellian Key Stroke research trial to check whether cash was a high SEO search term… it was! I went for the (.UK) version because the (.COM) version was already taken and my knowledge really is confined to the British marketplace.

I am no graphic designer, so I worked with professionals at KillerCovers.com to design my eBook Cover and the graphics for my web page – £212 plus VAT, well spent. Great service from a lady called Vanessa who handled my graphic design and they were also able to help me with formatting my sales letter into the site.

My book is written (129 pages!) and my site is up and running now, and although it has taken a good deal longer than seven days (try seven weeks!) the feeling of satisfaction is immense. Business Opportunities And Ideas, served the purpose of it?s name… it gave me an Opportunity with an Idea (“How to start an Ebook Business”) Then it just took purposeful action for me to overcome the, ?we are all doomed in this recession? chatter, and create the bare bones of my Ebook Business… now for the real challenge… letting my target market know that they can, “Easily earn ?BIG MONEY? as a Personal Trainer!”

Thanks again John for your positive, action orientated and user friendly site. In times of uncertainty even more so than in a boom action speaks louder than words, and for me actions have become ?words?… my first book!
