Can you suggest some great business ideas for someone looking to start their first business?

I think most of the business ideas I’ve written about are “great business ideas” – that’s why I’ve written about them! But whether or not you think they are great business ideas will depend on what you’re hoping to achieve by starting your own business. So before you get hung up on finding the latest and greatest business ideas I’d suggest spending a bit of time thinking through exactly what you aim to accomplish by starting a business?

Are you aiming to: get rich; take control of your own destiny;  hoping to improve your work life balance; or is there another reason entirely? Once you know what you’re aiming for it’ll be easier to decide which ideas are great ideas for new a business and which aren’t. Put another way, if you want to become a multimillionaire then a home business is almost certainly wrong for you, whereas if you’re hoping to improve your work life business then working from home running a small business might be just the ticket.

Greatness, like beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
