So You Want to be an Entrepreneur?: How to Decide If Starting a Business is Really for You is intended to be a "fast and fun way to find out whether you can make it as an entrepreneur". Sadly I found it neither fast, nor fun and it’s one of the few business books I’ve put down without reading from cover to cover. Which is a shame as there is a lot of good content, however I found it slow and irritating to read due to the excessive use of asides, quotes, tips and fill in the blanks tables, not to mention the worst sin of all the use of a "fake handwriting" font which together make reading the book a chore.
So what does Jon Gillespie-Brown know about being an entrepreneur? Well he is one having founded several high tech firms. He’s also a business mentor at the London Business School and Stanford University.
If you can manage to put up with the layout the book does give you a good overview of the realities of being an entrepreneur and provides some good advice on how to avoid some of the common pitfalls associated with the lifestyle of a budding entrepreneur.
You can buy it from Amazon UK or Amazon USA.
