The Apprentice

The Apprentice (UK/BBC version) is a business based reality TV show that sees candidates (as they are known) compete for a £100,000-a-year job as ‘apprentice’ to Lord Alan Sugar (previously Sir Alan Sugar and referred to throughout the first five series as Sir Alan). The show is pitched as the ‘job interview from hell’.

The format of the show is largely based on the original American series of The Apprentice in which candidates competed for a job as Donald Trump’s apprentice.

The winners of the UK version of The Apprentice have gone on to work in one of Lord Alan Sugar’s businesses.

As of 2010, there has been five series of The Apprentice so far. A sixth series runs in 2010 and they are currently advertising for candidates to take part in a seventh series in 2011.
